The bulk of the collection consists of the documents of the Conference, 1946. These include observations submitted by governments on the draft treaties; verbatim minutes and other documents of the plenary meetings; and minutes and other documents of the commissions of the Conference. These include the Commission on Procedure; Legal and Drafting Commission; Military Commission; Political and Territorial Commissions for Bulgaria, Finland, Hungary, Italy, and Rumania; Sub-Commission on the Statute of the Free Territory of Trieste; and the Economic Commissions for the Balkans, Finland, and Italy, including the Economic Commission for Italy's Sub-Commission on Reparations. Miscellaneous correspondence, memos, texts of speeches, reports, and other documents are included. Also included are draft peace treaties with Bulgaria, Finland, Hungary, Italy, and Romania, 1945-1946.

The Paris Peace Conference met from July 29 - October 15, 1946 to discuss peace treaties with Bulgaria, Italy, Finland, Hungary, and Rumania. Treaties had been drafted by the Council of Foreign Ministers, and agreed upon in major part by the United States, the United Kingdom, the Soviet Union, and France.
